Insurance
It is a necessary requirement that all synagogues are correctly insured. This includes the buildings and contents. The Federation has a group policy organised by its broker and most of the Federation’s synagogues are registered to this insurance.
Please bear the following points in mind:
- If you acquire any contents of value during the insurance year, please notify us so that we can add it to the policy.
- If you need to make a claim on the insurance for any reason, please notify us as soon as possible giving as much information as you can. Please take photographs of any damage as soon as possible so we can send these to the insurers to assist in making the claim.
As well as buildings and contents insurance the Federation also holds a) public liability and b) employers’ liability insurance under the group insurance policy.
It is a statutory obligation to display a certificate of employer’s liability and a notice of public liability. These must be displayed in a prominent position within each communal building. These will be distributed electronically on an annual basis and should be displayed on your synagogue noticeboard.
Any questions or requests for assistance on insurance-related matters should be addressed to the Properties / Health & Safety Manager, Avi Cohen, on 020 8202 2263 or 020 3870 4730.
