What is the status of produce which is grown in Eretz Yisroel under Hetter Mechira arrangements?

In line with the view of many halachic authorities wordlwide, the position of the Federation Beis Din is that fruit and vegetable produce grown in Eretz Yisroel during the Shemitta year must be treated as Shemitta produce. This applies even if it has been included in the general mechira undertaken.

I accidentally purchased produce which is Hetter mechira. how should it be treated?

Hetter mechira produce should be treated as though it is Shemitta produce.

Vegetables should be treated as Sefichin (prohibited) and left to rot until it they are inedible. They should then be discarded. Fruits may be eaten in accordance with Kedushas Sheviis.

For further details on Shemitta produce, see Shemitta FAQs.
